The thesis analyses the contribution of human resource management practices to the teaching and research
efficiency of professors in higher education institutions. Based on research into high-performance work systems, the
ability–motivation–opportunity framework and the strength of HRM systems, it shows that HR practices influence efficiency
as a coherent system rather than individually. The teaching output of the higher education system of Uzbekistan in 2023–
2025 is analysed, and a matrix linking HR practices to teaching and research outcomes is proposed.
